About Therapy...

Therapists at ACCC have experience and training in providing therapy to individuals, couples and families and adhere to their licensure’s code of ethics as regulated by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Board.

Our therapists have worked with clients of a variety of ages and circumstances and understand that each case has a unique set of dynamics. A therapist with ACCC can help navigate the best approach in therapeutic services for your unique circumstances.

Individual Therapy

For those seeking to experience change and growth beginning on a personal level, individual therapy may be what they are seeking. Individual therapy is a process of working with a therapist one-on-one towards an individual’s identified goals. The individual is able to be heard and to experience care and compassion free from judgment and criticism. Having an understanding of the individual’s history and current life experiences can be helpful and a quick biographical form is usually requested by the therapist. Therapists can vary in methods used to provide therapy based on training and experience and consultation regarding this process will be part of the assessment and intake sessions.

Couples Therapy

Deep within us all is the desire to be known and loved by another. Though couples come to therapy with different topics of conflict and specific goals in mind, the main driving force of those goals are these basic needs. The therapists at ACCC recognize both individuals share the same core desires and each individual is important to the relationship and deserve to be heard. Couples establish the goals they would like to reach through couples therapy with the therapist’s guidance after assessment of the nature of their current relationship. After goals are established, the therapist is equipped to offer a variety of interventions and tools to help the couple learn how to be known and loved by the other.

Family Therapy

All families experience times of conflict, discord and even distance. In family therapy, a therapist will assist the family to determine the steps they need in order to have more peace and connection in their home. For some families, simply having a neutral person present is needed in order to begin the process of healing. Therapists can help families learn how to listen and communicate core needs as well as to offer interventions to improve connection among members.

Premarital Therapy

Couples preparing to embark on a life journey together through marriage may want to begin this exciting time of their life with preparation and forethought. In premarital therapy, couples are able to more easily identify their individual and relationship strengths and potential areas of growth in order to better navigate life’s challenges together. Marriage can be a very rewarding journey when couples are able to learn how to communicate in ways in which both are able to be known and loved by the other and premarital therapy can offer this guidance.
